The coronavirus has us all in uncharted waters.
Nationwide lockdowns, border closures and a slowing economy are leaving SMBs uncertain about the future—and we don’t blame you. Many business owners are being asked to shut up shop with almost no notice. This makes it tricky to nut out a game plan to keep the business afloat, to say the least.
However, a nationwide lockdown doesn’t automatically spell doom and gloom for your business. We’re here to help you get through this, together. Keep yourself and your business healthy during COVID-19 with this essential checklist. Just click on the image to download and print, so you can tick things off as you go down the list.*
Stay in the loop of the latest updates.
The news is changing every day, so it’s important to keep updated on new government measures, the overall economic landscape and stimulus packages for SMBs. It’s easier said than done, but during this time, try to stay flexible and adapt your business to the ever-changing climate.
Some of the best resources to use include:
- Business.gov.au
- Your state or territory’s business chamber or equivalent (for example, Small Business Commissioner NSW and the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry)
- Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC)
- Fair Work Ombudsman for the latest on workplace laws during coronavirus
- Business communities like Flying Solo and the Business Hub (that’s us!)
- Lifeline and Beyond Blue if you need help keeping your mental health in check.
Remember — this too shall pass.
There’s no denying that these are stressful times. While it can feel like there’s no end in sight, it will pass. In the meantime, it’s important to stay calm, protect your employees and your broader community and put your business in the best shape possible for the future.
