Ten years ago William He, the local operator of a big trailer company decided to launch his own business with the aim to provide quality off-road campers at exceptional value. Knowing he needed to make a splash in a tight knit market, William choose a name for the business that would stand out and create an emotional connection with customers. And so Fantasy Caravan was born.
Humble marketing beginnings.
Originally marketing the business via print ads and by dropping off business cards, Fantasy Caravan has come a long way since then. They now use social media marketing, SEO, SEM, email marketing and phone marketing to connect with their customers. They also post ads on eBay and websites like caravanandcampingsales.com.au.
While Fantasy Caravan has benefited hugely from using digital marketing, they also face some challenges, in particular content theft, where less reputable competitors will take a Fantasy Caravan ad that appears on a site like eBay and then use it as their own – complete with pictures, specifications and design. While this is a violation of copyright, it’s hard for Fantasy Caravan to police, which is something they’re working on addressing in the future.
Riding the trend.
A long and steady player in the camper van game, Fantasy Caravan are enjoying a peak in the market, with camper vanning rising in popularity over the past few years. This means, it’s no longer one camper van fits all, with customised, on-trend designs and the latest tech and amenities now expected by many customers. Recognising this need, Fantasy Caravan have spent a lot of time researching and developing their new model of off-road caravans. Due to launch in the new year and with a showroom also opening on the Gold Coast, the company are excited to take it to the next level in 2019.
